International Fashion Focus at Margin London Fashion Event Article Posted June 2, 2009 The February 2009 edition of Margin, the London tradeshow for upscale streetwear and directional tailoring, saw a significant increase in buyers from across Europe & Japan driven by the weaker pound and stronger Euro, and the August 2009 edition is on track to be the most international mix of exhibiting brands to date. Buyers from across Germany, Belgium, France, Spain and The Netherlands descended on The Music Rooms in Mayfair to visit Margin and, courtesy of a wallet-friendly exchange rate, source more affordable and directional wares from UK designers. Equally UK buyers reported that the stronger Euro meant cutting back on overseas trade shows and instead decided to buy on the doorstep from brands at Margin. For UK buyers still keen to source unique international designers, without the expense of overseas travel, Margin is welcoming many overseas brands to the August 2009 edition of the exhibition. Already confirmed are exhibitors from countries including Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and Thailand, who will be showcasing their ranges alongside new and young UK designers.

EIO Clothing: Spring/Summer 08 release+ I got a chance to meet up with EIO at Margin back in February, and it was really great to get hands on with their whole range after reviewing a sample back in October last year. So, with that knowledge in mind, I can tell you with no uncertainty that this latest S/S range is damn fine. The hoodies were soft and the designs were sharp, and they’ve even started selling some rather nifty looking belts that have their logo stamped onto them. Click on through to see all the new goodies that they’ve got on offer. Props to EIO for seeming like a great bunch of people, having spoken to them I can really understand the level of passion that they put into what they do, and I think that shows through in this latest collection. +++ Margin is a curated event where buyers know they can find great new labels season after season and don’t have to wade through hall after hall of established brands to find directional new products to offer their shoppers.

+++ Spaces are limited to appropriate brands only that have a directional edge and something new to offer.

+++ Margin consistently welcomes key buyers from directional stores and editors from cutting-edge titles keen to keep a step ahead of the competition and who know Margin is the prime location to discover new brands + at larger events where mainstream brands take centre-stage and priority, new labels can often be an opportunity missed.+++ The Original and the best platform for new talent for over 5 years, Margin was established to help new labels reach a wider buying and press audience. Margin was created out of necessity. Retailers and Editors travel the world looking for the next big thing but are never going to find it at a show whose costs prohibit fresh talent. The main drive of Margin was to establish a show where new young labels could find an affordable and successful platform.
