Young fashion beats credit crunch     Tuesday, 12 May 2009    Whilst the economical downturn seems to have no effect on young consumers, emerging streetwear labels keep on growing. Budding brands that exhibit at London tradeshow Margin and retailers that source from the bi-annual fashion fair are led to believe to be immune to the credit crunch.   Margin is a trade-only event which showcases mens and womens upscale streetwear and directional tailoring with the next edition on the 2nd and 3rd of August 2009. With collections targeting a younger market, buyers and brands are questioning media coverage on a recession that has, so far, failed to impact on their businesses. Buyers who visited the February 2009 edition of Margin, the first edition since the word recession was publicly referred to by economists and politicians, reported that their business was unaffected and, in most cases, profit was up year on year.     Exhibiting reaffirmed buoyant trading with many taking orders at the same level as previous pre-recession seasons as well as signing up new accounts. Margin moves to Mayfair     Monday, 27 October 2008    Innovative streetwear and tailoring trade show Margin is moving to Mayfair, due to construction and restoration work taking place at its previous venue. The trade show will take up the minimalist gallery space of The Music Rooms. The Music Rooms was the home of Margin for eight shows from 2003 to 2005, and is based in the heart of the West End. Margin will be central to all mens and womens trade events coinciding with London Fashion Week.   Margin organiser Odysseas Constantine commented:

Margin to highlight directional denim      Wednesday, 23 July 2008    The upmarket streetwear tradeshow Margin has announced the creation of a new area called Selvage to highlight directional denim brands. Selvage will featuring cutting-edge premium jeans from Trousers London, organic and fairtrade denim from Chance and French brand NU, directional washes and embroidery from Japanese labels True Brit and Kyoto Denim, design-led denim womenswear from Bulgarian label Mystic, premium mens casualwear from Allopop, and other denim labels. Margin is well known amongst key buyers and press for providing an affordable launchpad for new labels and the August 2008 edition is no exception with over 80% of exhibitors making their UK debut at Margin. Originally established to provide a relevant showcase for upscale streetwear brands the show has expanded gradually and carefully each season to encompass additional product areas. The sharp tailoring and elegant designerwear of the Kreateur area has been honed each season to highlight cutting-edge garments and the August 2008 edition will be the largest Kreateur offering to date. The accessories area GILD was added to the show to focus on directional accessories and the 101 Room is an area of Margin created to highlight brand new labels launching their first collection.   Margin will take place on the 3rd 4th & 5th August 2008 at The Vinyl Factory Gallery, London W1.

Margin gears up for LFW

Margin has expanded the show by opening up an addtional 20% of floorspace to make room for the growing number of exciting UK and International start-ups looking to exhibit in London during London Fashion Week. Margin will be showcasing its biggest show to date and this season as expanded its Magazine and Media Lounge. The show, which has grown to over 90 exhibitors, is one of the UK’s most diverse selection of Mens and Womens streetwear exhibitors.
Known amongst industry insiders as the key show for sourcing new labels, the February 2008 edition will feature 80% of exhibitors making their global debut. Originally established to provide a relevant showcase for upscale streetwear brands such as Dephect, Lost Property and Ames Bros, the show has expanded gradually and carefully each season to encompass additional product areas.
The sharp tailoring and elegant designerwear of the Kreateur area has been honed each season to highlight cutting-edge garments with labels such as Social Suicide, Missmilne, Emily & Fin, and Dusty. In August, the new accessories area GILD was added to the show to focus on directional accessories ranges by new brands such as Punky Pins, Pik & Pokket, Prod, and Zillion who will be exhibited in the February GILD.
New for February 2008, Margin has added an area for eco-aware streetwear labels called TraidFare , highlighting brands that use organic fabrics and manufacture responsibly and sustainably such as Kuyichi, Komodo, THTC, Organic Stereo, Regenerate, Rise-Up, Moly Kulte and Jumble and others.

London Margin, the upscale streetwear exhibition, is   continuing its quest to help young, urban brands reach a wider audience amongst key retailers and press. For many, Margin London was created out of necessity. Retailers travel the world looking for cult labels and the next big thing but rarely find at mainstream shows where costs prohibit fresh talent from taking part. The main drive of Margin London was to establish a show where new young labels could find an affordable platform. The exhibition has certainly succeeded and has delighted buyers and press alike with its mix of left-field brands and commercial successes waiting to happen. The next edition of Margin London be on the 12th & 13th February 2006.
