Margin

Lady Luck Rules OK opened up it’s jumbo rainbow stand at Margin for the third season running last weekend. Attendance was 30% down as some buyers chose not to visit London due to the events in July but nevertheless good orders were written and fun was had with my trade show gang! I’m pleased to welcome two exciting new European stockists Flying A in Switzerland and Eightball in Italy and lots of my current UK shops stocked up on a sparkling selection of new designs. On the last day Laura from Heidi Seeker and I did a swag swap - one of Laura’s LOVE WILL TEAR US APART biker cardigans for one of my Electric Daisy necklaces, a charm ring and a pair of Smurf sunglasses (see piccie below). This girlie is one to watch, her collection is super duper - punk meets new wave in an ice cream parlour! Oh yes!

After the show I spent 3 sunshine filled days in Devon with my boyfriend’s family. I feel relaxed and happy and ready to get down to work - I have lots of wholesale orders to complete now, more new items to add to the online shop and a secret project to get my teeth into. All will be revealed very soon…

MARGIN LONDON
7th & 8th August 2005
10am til 6pm
The Music Rooms
London W1

Showcasing upscale streetwear & directional tailoring, MARGIN previews clothing and accessories ranges for Men and Women from 60 premium labels, including many new design start-ups.

Margin has been successfully running in London for 3 years. Key independent, department, and multiple stores, as well as buying groups and agencies from the UK, Europe and Japan, visit the central London venue of The Music Rooms over two days each February and August to discover and order from new labels. By keeping the selection of brands on offer tight and focused, Margin London has established itself as a must-visit show for buyers and street couture labels to do business.

Margin exists to promote young upscale streetwear and directional tailoring labels and was established to help new labels reach a wider buying and press audience.

Margin London was created out of necessity. Retailers travel the world looking for the next big thing but are never going to find it at a show whose costs prohibit fresh talent. The main drive of Margin London was to establish a show where new young labels could find an affordable platform to meet buyers, get orders, and grow their business.

My rainbow hued, music inspired trinkets have been written about in oodles of zines which encouraged my participation in the London based, street wear trade show Margin. On a super sunny day in August 2004 I set up my giant rainbow stand and took 15 orders from stores all around the world from Dubai to Dublin, Shibuya to Sweden. Phew, now there was work to be done!

Menswear Buyer MWB December 2004
Tradeshow Calendar

Higher-end streetwear and directional tailoring for men and women. Smaller niche labels such as Slush, X-Large, Lady Luck Rules OK, Lazy Oaf, 28 Black and Bonnie & Clyde. Margin is one of the smallest events on the exhibition calendar but nevertheless worth a visit it you're looking for creative labels that will give your shop an edge. With its affordable pricing structure, it allows niche labels and up-and-coming talents to find a trading platform, and can claim success in providing a launch pad for many interesting brands in the past.
