Margin promotes indie brands Wednesday, 08 July 2009 With less than a month to go until trade exhibition Margin, a plethora of great design talent and new brands confirmed to take part in the show. The organisers were keen to state it was not just newcomers who were showing but new labels launching for the first time globally that can give retailers an edge over the competition. Over a third of exhibitors in August 2009 are making their global debut at Margin, another third are brand new to Margin or the UK arena, and the remaining third are previous exhibitors who had their trade launch at Margin and have proven their ranges have selling-power through key retailers with solid and successful sell-through. Margin will be the only independent trade event taking place this season in London.

International Fashion Focus at Margin London Fashion Event Article Posted June 2, 2009 The February 2009 edition of Margin, the London tradeshow for upscale streetwear and directional tailoring, saw a significant increase in buyers from across Europe & Japan driven by the weaker pound and stronger Euro, and the August 2009 edition is on track to be the most international mix of exhibiting brands to date. Buyers from across Germany, Belgium, France, Spain and The Netherlands descended on The Music Rooms in Mayfair to visit Margin and, courtesy of a wallet-friendly exchange rate, source more affordable and directional wares from UK designers. Equally UK buyers reported that the stronger Euro meant cutting back on overseas trade shows and instead decided to buy on the doorstep from brands at Margin. For UK buyers still keen to source unique international designers, without the expense of overseas travel, Margin is welcoming many overseas brands to the August 2009 edition of the exhibition. Already confirmed are exhibitors from countries including Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and Thailand, who will be showcasing their ranges alongside new and young UK designers.

Young fashion beats credit crunch Tuesday, 12 May 2009 Whilst the economical downturn seems to have no effect on young consumers, emerging streetwear labels keep on growing. Budding brands that exhibit at London tradeshow Margin and retailers that source from the bi-annual fashion fair are led to believe to be immune to the credit crunch. Margin is a trade-only event which showcases mens and womens upscale streetwear and directional tailoring with the next edition on the 2nd and 3rd of August 2009. With collections targeting a younger market, buyers and brands are questioning media coverage on a recession that has, so far, failed to impact on their businesses. Buyers who visited the February 2009 edition of Margin, the first edition since the word recession was publicly referred to by economists and politicians, reported that their business was unaffected and, in most cases, profit was up year on year. Exhibiting reaffirmed buoyant trading with many taking orders at the same level as previous pre-recession seasons as well as signing up new accounts. Regular Margin exhibitor Ray Buckley of womenswear label Yamama confirmed that he
