Cult Brand SILAS Selects Margin for International Return + After an absence of over four years, cult streetwear brand Silas is returning to the UK and will be making their European tradeshow debut exclusively at Margin London. Silas have never previously exhibited at a trade exhibition and will only be showing their collection at Margin in London and no other trade events this season. Established in London in 1998, but moved to Japan in 2006, seminal label Silas & Maria changed the global perception of British streetwear and kick-started the developing UK vinyl toy market with Martin, the "face" of Silas designed by illustrator James Jarvis. With a growing global fanbase, the reach of the brand extended beyond clothing into print. Based on the history of fictional character Silas Holmes, the respected art book "Where is Silas?" was published in 2003 and featured the work of designers, artists, and illustrators including Lizzie Finn, James Jarvis, Will Sweeney, Fergus Purcell and Sarah Gregory (whose oil paintings were on display at the February 2004 edition of Margin London) to name a few. Since 2006, when the original founders decided to concentrate on other projects, most accounts outside of Japan were closed which frustrated many international fans of the brand keen to continue their relationship with Silas. Silas will be exhibiting their clothing & accessories collection exclusively at the 19th edition of Margin London on the 1st & 2nd August 2010 and will not be exhibiting at any other trade exhibitions. Margin is the only UK trade show where buyers & press can discover fresh new talent alongside credible established young fashion brands, such as Silas, Obey, & Vestal. Margin is the longest-running independent trade exhibition for directional mens & womens clothing & accessories in London. An established and credible location to discover fresh design talent and do business, Margin has proven a successful hunting ground for key buyers & press to find like-minded brands since the shows started eight years ago.

Following a break of over two years, iconic American brand OBEY will be returning to the UK tradeshow scene in August 2010 and has chosen Margin as the ideal platform to showcase their range of clothing and accessories to key buyers and press. Whilst the OBEY mens streetwear range (established in 2001 by world-renowned artist Shepard Fairey) is well-known amongst credible retailers and consumers alike, the expanded womenswear clothing and accessories collection will be previewed at the August 2010 edition of Margin London. Designed by Erin Wignall in collaboration with Shepard Fairey, the womenswear clothing collection launched in 2003 and has grown over the seasons to include a full range of cut-and-sew clothing which sits between edgy designerwear and premium streetwear, as well as accessories including bags and jewellery. The Fall 2010 range, which will be available at Margin in August 2010 for immediate delivery, features edgy tailored outerwear, such as the motorcycle-inspired denim or jersey jackets or Navaho blanket coats, and sharp treated denim, which contrast well with more delicate pieces such as the nautical knitwear or gossamer dresses. OBEY will also be previewing the Womens Spring/Summer 2011 range at Margin London available to key buyers for forward-order. Famous for the viral Andre the Giant posters, and recent campaigns such as the Obama HOPE prints and fund-raising HAITI designs, OBEY's influence is far-ranging, both in design and cultural reach. We're really pleased to welcome OBEY to Margin. While OBEY is a large established brand in terms of presence and stockist base, they're fundamentally an independent and progressive label inspired by the same art and design drives as the new and emerging designers selected to launch at Margin every season.

The Original and the best platform for new talent for eight years, Margin was established to help new labels reach a wider buying and press audience. Margin was created out of necessity. Retailers travel the world looking for the next big thing but are never going to find it at a show whose costs prohibit fresh talent. The main drive of Margin was to establish a show where pure new talent could find an affordable platform. Since the exhibitions first started back in 2002, Margin can lay claim to providing the successful trade launch-pad for many brands such as Supremebeing, Lady Luck Rules OK, Dephect, Emily & Fin, Sugarhill, EIO, Lazy Oaf, Famous Forever, ISavedLaurence, Yamama, and Ruby Rocks, as well as the UK launching point of overseas brands including Upper Playground, Loreak Mendian, Syndrome, Gama-Go, Stereo Sound Agency, Diamond Supply Co, Uzi, and Z-Boy amongst many others.
