MARGIN AW08 @ The Vinyl Factory Sorry for the delay manpower & time got the better of me. Well I try to remind myself that this is London & supposedly this is where some of the best talent resides. So when we run through the shows & exhibitions it does amaze me that we cannot do any better. LFW, is what it is and the static show is just a show & in my own opinion is a little stale & the atmosphere is not conducive to creative buying & inspiration & that does not deter from the labels available but it is a little boring. Now over to Streetwear TBC is this our Streetwear show I am sadly embarrassed that that is all we can do we are London are we not shame our shows do not reflect that Pure lets just leave it there. Now to the one show that made me smile & have a little hope that some one is working at something that makes a difference & makes sense MARGIN. By far the best exhibition that I have seen this season in London. Excellent mixture of labels & product divided into sections that compliment each other, & labels that can excite. I was very happy to see some interesting labels from afar as Mexico & as close as Finland & even closer still East London. The location at Vinyl Factory is Great right in the middle of the West End, & you can do anything after you do your buying so that works for me. As for the Labels, was more impressed with their Ecological Labels than the ones at the Tentsthey seem more relevant & a bit more on point or maybe it was the hands on feel of these labels. The Streetwear Ts are neither here nor there & if there is any criticism it is just that the Streetwear printed t is nothing special & I am a little board of Guest Artists T-shirt collections but I guess it works. So my main likes were: 1. Double Goose from Paris they are bringing back the old triple fat goose down leathers from the Hip Hop era of the 80s & they are dong them in Kids !!! 2. Social Suicide Excellent Tailoring for the Modern Man from the Teddy Boys ( Silver Razor Blades Stitched in as standard) to the classic suit. A history of menswear in 6 suits excellent. 3. Jumble I loved what they were doing with old garments recutting & rehashing together & making contemporary styles excellent & really colourful. 4. Dress O Rama I am so into all this 50s revival but Annika from Berlin lives and breathes this and it reflects in her collection 50s styling with a little twist on the shapes & fits really nice stuff & kids too 5. Ria Roberts Simple Shapes, Intricate Prints in a host of colourways. I really liked what she was doing.really good stuff. 6. Liike this group of labels from Finland was very nice perhaps a little out of their league there but definitely a refreshing view amongst all the other product. Some really beautiful work for sure. They were showing the following labels:- Vaino Seitsonen, Dusty, KaakSiluoto, Miun & Muka va all very nice. So I know 6 is not a lot, but these were enough to make me smile & be happy that there is one show that can still deliver well done MARGIN. Be Well
