Margin Labels Head To Tokyo +
Margin London is the only UK event exclusively running an exchange programme with IFF, Tokyo’s largest fashion trade event.
Exhibitors at the August 2013 edition of Margin, which takes place on the 4th & 5th, are able to apply to exhibit free of charge at the IFF show in Tokyo from the 17th to 19th July 2013.
This season, the IFF show, an integral part of Japan Fashion Week, has invited three labels who are exhibiting at Margin in August, at the new Olympia London venue, to participate at the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Centre.
Margin exhibitors D4Discus, Dream Nation and Cheek LDN will be debuting their collections at IFF in Tokyo and by return Margin has selected Bijouxellery and Violette Room to exhibit free of charge at Margin in London.
Dream Nation produce ethical and organic digitally-printed clothing for women and children, D4Discus upcycle vintage fabrics to create one-off dresses, and Cheek LDN brings Chanel-style to the London streets with their new womenswear label.
Bijouxellery’s exquisite men’s jewellery range, including cufflinks and tiepins, is luxurious yet affordable, whilst Violette Room craft beautiful womenswear from unique fabrics.
Organised by leading Japanese fashion industry publisher Senken Shimbun (like Drapers or WWD, but bigger; they publish a newspaper daily as well as fortnightly and monthly magazines), the International Fashion Fair (IFF) is the largest trade exhibition in Japan, with 800 exhibitors and 25,000 visitors. The majority of exhibiting brands are naturally Japanese alongside international brands such as February, Happy Socks, and Alpha Industries, exhibiting in the Creator’s Village area for directional labels, looking to meet with Japanese buyers.
Senken Shimbun have regularly visited to report on Margin since the shows started in 2002 and selected Margin as the only UK event to take part in the exchange programme based on the directional offering of fresh talent and new labels.
