HULGER
(The Phone Formerly Known as POKIA)

The customised handsets were auctioned at the Hulger website for charity + Bids were placed for a good cause + visit:
www.hulger.com

A new invention from web-creative Nicolas Roope, Hulger is the brand name for a range of retro landline handsets converted to work with mobile phones as a headset. Not “hands-free” by any means, the Hulger P*Phones initial appeal is in its retro styling, but as more people complain of headaches from cellphones, Hulger will be perceived to be a healthier option to stay mobile. As mobiles do much more than just take calls, the Hulger P*Phone will enable users to take calls and check their emails at the same time. The Hulger P*Phone also has the added bonus of not looking like a crazy person talking to yourself which can happen when using tiny invisible bluetooth headsets!

Art + February 2005 + Supremebeing

Supremebeing

Supremebeing are a family of artists in which some paint, some sketch, some use computers and some make music. As well as creating unique canvases for the February 2005 edition of Margin London, Supremebeing have been busy painting the walls at the new store by Richmond Classics, Geeks and Freaks.

Supremebeing are extending their range from clothing and canvases to include vinyl figures as part of their new “Not Toys” series due soon.

Art + February 2005 + Dumm

DUMM

Dumm was founded in 2001 in the backwaters of bristol. Not content to be just a clothing label, they also produce animation, limited edition digital prints and most importantly, provide relief as a drop in centre for the self-harming monsters of Dumm.

Inspired by their success in the 2002 Ride snowboard design competition, the Dumm monsters now adorn a range of limited edition canvasses and prints. The savage antics of these bizarre beasts have been exhibited in the UK and, internationally, in the US. We were pleased to show 4 new exclusive pieces at Margin in February 2005.

Art + February 2005 + Kieran Battles

KEIRAN BATTLES

Kieran Battles bought his first camera for a trip to Africa with Oxfam in August 2000 and has been addicted to snapping ever since.

His images have been published in, amongst others: Dazed & Confused, The Big Issue, new music title Loose Lips Sinks Ships as well as various business publications. Although he now shoots for an increasing number of commercial clients he is never without a camera for what he describes as his ‘off-duty shots’.

Kieran has documented his travels around the world over the past 4 years and a selection of the images were on show at Margin in February 2005.

The limited edition prints are available to buy with all proceeds going to the Tsunami Disaster Appeal.

Kieran was at Margin with Mark Pepperall to launch their Dua Columba label.

Music + February 2005 + Ubiquity Records

UBIQUITY

Ubiquity Records from California returned to Margin in February 2005 with their range of music-influenced Mens- and womens-wear.

Ubiquity should still be toasting their success at being voted “Label of the Year” by Radio 1 Listeners on Gilles Petersons Worldwide!
Ubiquity signing Sa-Ra Creative Partners were voted the winner of the John Peel “Play More Jazz” Award.

Ubiquity Records produced a limited-edition Margin CD exclusively for Margin visitors featuring tracks from fresh artists such as Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Roy Davis Jr and Breakestra, as well as providing the soundtrack to the show.
